First week in crazy India

7 mei 2017 - Jaipur, India

Namaste!

After a wonderfull week back home with crazy kingsday and seeing family and friends I'm now in crazy India.
This month I'm not travelling alone. My friend Cynthia is with me and that makes a lot of things easier and more fun.

On the airplane I already felt welcomed in India, the breakfast they served was so spicy!!

We arrived on tuesday and after all the stories we've heared we prepared for the worst. But it turned out that Delhi is crazy busy, a lot of people, insane traffic and every now and then a cow in the middle of the road. But it wasn't as bad as we expected.
In Delhi we went to wonder around and see so many beautiful streets with many people, we went to a big temple and after sunset we saw the music/light/water show and it was very beautiful (unfortunatly they didn't allow anyone to take pictures), we tried local food and suffered when we forgot to tell "Not spicy, really no spices!!" I was litterly crying but did my best to finish most. Going around in tuktuk where the driver probably thinks he is playing 3D mario cart, he managed pretty wel and we were lucky to survive! :-)
One day Cynthia was sick (Delhi Belly) so we coudn't go far from the toilet, so we did some henna on our hands. The girl at the hostel did an amazing job!

After some days in the crazy city of Delhi we left for Jaipur. Trough couchsurfing we found a nice place and somehow (trough an Indian guy traveling in Rusia) got connected to an Indian who lives in the Netherlands and is now here for his brothers wedding. They are from the highest caste and that makes this wedding crazy big and about 1,5 weeks long. And we got invited!! :-D we are so lucky (yes they invite everyone in the village and there will be more then 2000 people) but we feel so very lucky! To meet all these nice people and have these experiences.
Yesterday we ended up at a part of the wedding where ladies dance to collect money, that money goes to the made who does everything for the family of the husband to be. It's an arranged marriage, and the 10th they will meet for the first time. The 10th is the biggest party. Today we needed to do some shopping so we fit a little bit in....
Our host showed us around in Amber with beautiful sites, temples and the Amber Ford. We get delicious (non spicy) local food and the people are so nice and friendly!!

Tonight is abother larty with a parade of music, elephants, camels and horses (?) and many people from the village. Tomorrow is going to be a big day since we're going to Taj Mahal.

India is just so different and hard to summerize.
The food is so good, and spicy!
The people are so nice, and many!
The cows truly are everywhere, even in the big city!
The fabrics are beautiful, and ladies wear them all the time!
The tempels are massive, beautiful and everywhere!
The smells are overwhelming! (Mostly not that good though)

The culture is very different in every way. I'm trying to pick up some Hindi and understand a bit from their culture.
Babies and children sometimes have make-up on their face, black eyeliner around their eyes. It's to protect the babies from the evil eye (if people say your child is beautiful that could cause bad luck).
Tuesday is the day they warship their monkey god, so they feed the monkeys.
So many things to learn, so many things to see, so many things to do!
I'm trying to pick it up and let you guys know!
