Nepal, you are beautiful!

12 juni 2017 - Kathmandu, Nepal

Nepal has been treating me so good!
Nice people, beautiful views, good food just perfect.

For about one week I stayed in Pokhara. Climbing up to Peace Pagoda, a monument to inspire peace for all people and made for Buddha. This trek was 2 hours up and then at the Pagoda, a beautiful building overlooking Pokhara and the beautiful lake. On the way back we took the shortcut. 1 hour down, a swim, a lunch and a boatride back. The girl who paddled the boat with 4 people inside was only 15 years old! Some girlpower! :-)

I did a three day bicycle around Pokhara and passing by/going trough some small villages. I loved this tour and see local life. The farmers, the traditional ladies carrying everything with their heads, children running around.
It was so hard, steep up and down with many big rocks/stones. The first day with a lot of rain it was a bit slippery, the second day a bit cloudy and some burning sun at times and the third in the burning sun.
The first day I saw many stunning views, met some children who gave me flowers. The second day I cycled into a wedding all ladies with red Sari's (traditional beautiful outfits) and dancing, as soon as they saw me we had a photo shoot, they gave me some red scarfs, held a red bag in front of my legs so you wouldn't see my shorts, like I belonged at the wedding. After a part of the wedding some locals invited us to eat some snacks, when we left they told me I am always welcome and like a doughter for them.
The third day was short ride with nice views and the road was a bit easier, invited by locals at home.

After one rest day I did another hike to a small village nearby Pokhara. We had a nice walk trough the city, trough a village until a temple on the top of a mountain. We got some snacks at the temple and got to know a bit more about life at the temple. Hiding in a cave(ish) thing to hide for the rain with a nice view.

After a day in the bus we arrived to Kathmandu. I'll be staying in Kathmandu until friday when I have my flight to Indonesia.
Today I had a lovely daytrip to Bhaktapur, a very old city where you can see a lot of the damage of the earthquake of 2015, 2 years recovering your city and not anything near finished rebuilding.
I took so many pictures wherever I looked there are beautiful people, stunning buildings and the athmosphere is very nice.

Now I have couple of days more to discover Kathmandu/Nepal and then it's already time to move on. Time is going very fast!
The last month and a half I have been feeling a lot like a tourist. In Indonesia I hope to visit some more projects and experience more about the local life.

Namaste, X
