50 shades of green

12 juli 2017 - Pedang, Indonesië

Wow Indonesia is so beautiful! The country (or at least Sumatra, what I've seen so far) is 50 shades of green. The beautiful rice fields, the jungle, and eveywhere you look!

The last week I've been to some uninhabitant islands. The weather wasn't that good but it was still beautiful white beach, clear blue water, awesome snorkling with many many fish and some gray clouds....
Going from one boat to the other to get there. And 3 days later same route back, only sice the weather has been bad the fishermen weren't on the water and there weren't any boats for people. So me and one other girl could join a cargo boat with 5 guys who worked on the boat. It was so much fun!! They coudn't speak any English so I had to work on my Indonesian and with hands and feet we got quite far. The boat took forever and we stopped some place to take a swim I said to the other girl on the boat: "this can only get better if we have a campfire" the guys didn't understans but they just happen to make a campfire. It was beautiful! So much better then any passenger ship can ever be.

After the islands I went to Bukittingi. To get there wasn't easy...
I just had 24 hours of travelling with 2 busses and a waiting time of 4 hours in between.
Bus 1, I got previlegde seating until the bus was to full and an old lady sits against me and falls asleep with her head on my shoulder she had a blood-red mouth from the tabacco and at one point she was in such a strange position that I was wondering if she was still alive, 5 minutes later she started talking on the phonr (using it like a walky talky) and was talking for at least one hour!
When I was in the city al really all thr people talked to me, 95% said "hello mister" and I was trying to explain "No you mister me miss!" Most understood, some understood. After a while its so annoying that I felt like an alien.
Bus 2: privileged seating again and the 18 year old driver. Driving the whole night on the worst roads trough the mountains. I was just hoping to stay alive. I tryed to stay awake so I could keep him awake but since he doesn't speak english it was hard to stay awake. He kept staring at, tried to hit on me and claimed to be 26... On pupose he made sure I was the last passenger on the bus, tried to get me in the same hotel as were he was staying.

The city Bukittinggi is very nice, a valley nearby, some left of the colonialisation of the Dutch and the Japanese and I met many nice people. I had lovely civiccat poo coffee and got a skin soft as baby buns by putting it on my face, a beautiful huge flower then can get a size of 1meter30 but this one was only about 70cm. At the place where I stayed I had another private concert. Going around on a bike and learning more about local culture. Around this city everything seems to be green, so so beautiful green! See the pictures on FB

I learned also a lot about the culture,
- If you put your finger on your head and put it straight it means you're in balance, if the finger point slightly up and is on you forehead you're saying that somebody's brain is out of balance (you are crazy).
- Many guys are fishing alongside the road, this is just to kill time, they buy fish put it in there to try to catch them again in the same small area.
- Everybody seems to smoke so much and everywhere! It is also an invitation, if you want to invite someone you give them a sigaret and if they accept that means that you'll be going to this party. (Or whatever you're invited for)
- You might think that Hello Kitty is for 4 years olds, but in this part of the world you'll find gangsters and everyone with stickers of Hello Kitty on cars, motorbikes and basicly everywhere.

I'm on my way to Jakarta now and hope to see more beauty in Java.
